All buildings must meet the performance requirements outlined within the Building Code of Australia. When the Deem-to-Satisfy (DtS) requirements are not met, Performance Solutions are used because they offer flexibility in addressing these performance requirements.
A Performance Solution is an alternative method of achieving compliance for buildings that do not or cannot comply with the Acceptable Construction Provisions of the National Construction Code (NCC) and Building Code of Australia (BCA). In situations where the DtS Provisions are not achievable, a building proposal requires a BCA Performance Solution.

PREPARATION OF PERFORMANCE BASED DESIGN BRIEF
The first step of the Performance Solution process is to scope out the proposed building and Performance Solution in consultation with the relevant stakeholders. This forms the Performance Based Design Brief (PBDB).
PREPARATION OF PERFORMANCE SOLUTION REPORTS
Carry out analysis, modelling or testing, collate and evaluate results, and prepare a final report which clearly demonstrate that compliance with the NCC Performance Requirements agreed in the PBDB has been achieved, to be approved by a Building Surveyor.
PERFORMANCE SOLUTION PROCESS AND STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT
Liaise and coordinate with all stakeholders involved throughout the process depending on the complexity of the Performance Solution.
